Oil Condition Monitoring Conference Aimed at Saving
Mining and Power Generation Companies Thousand

As oil prices climb, leading Australian oil testing laboratory, Oilcheck, has announced a special two day conference on cost saving options for major mining and power industry companies.

The conference, Condition Monitoring for Mining and Power Generation Industries, will be held in at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Homebush, on May 1 and 2. It will present and demonstrate new onsite oil testing technologies.

“Rising oil costs are on everyone’s mind. The conference will present a number of options involving cost effective on-site monitoring, new technology that makes it simple, quick and easy and can save companies tens and possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars a year,” Mike Morrison, Managing Director of Oilcheck (www.oilcheck.com.au) , said today.

“With the latest releases of some specialised oil testing equipment suitable for on-site analysis for remote sites, the conference will coincide with the launch of these testers. Additionally, organising for five international experts could only be arranged at this time so as not to clash with their other engagements as they are in high demand by industry.”

Oilcheck has been a provider of oil condition monitoring and analysis services to the mining and power generation industries for more than 25 years, with offices and laboratories in Sydney and Perth.

International Speakers From US, Germany and Japan

Speakers include Dr. Mark Okasaki, product specialist, Chevron Texaco; Jo Ameye, vice-president sales and marketing, Fluitec International, Belgium; Greg Livingstone, Director Fluid Technology for EPT, Tucson Arizona; Dr. Ludger Quick, director of chemistry and metallurgy, Siemens Power Generation, Mülheim, Germany; Dr. Akira Sasaki, former managing director of Kleentek Corporation; Jim Forbes of Forbes Consulting, formerly with Caltex.

Better oil condition monitoring and testing can have a considerable impact on various businesses in terms of profitability and the bottom line involving maintenance issues.

“The more precise the decisions made for maintenance can be made, the better the functioning of the operational assets. By improving the maintenance regime for the assets, savings can be made by the avoidance of unscheduled down-time and increased mobility,” Mr. Morrison explained..

“On-site analysis provides immediate data as to the condition of the lubricant and/or the equipment. Having immediate data, even if incomplete in comparison to full of-site analysis, to hand enables maintenance decisions to be made which can avoid undue problems.

The conference has been targeted at senior maintenance personnel as they are instrumental in overseeing maintenance budgets and have the authority and responsibility to act to reduce costs.

The Condition Monitoring for Mining and Power Generation Industries is the first in the world to look in detail, and provide technical options, for cost-saving on-site testing.
